CrushCheck.com is a website that tells you if your friend has a crush on someone, even if they do not want you to know. The idea is simple. When you register you are given a personal link. If you give this link to your friends, relatives and acquaintances, it brings them to a special page. On this page they are asked to fill in their own name and the names of people they like or are in love with. The page looks just like a love calculator that works out how compatible two people are. This is the impression most visitors will get. As soon as they press the button "calculate", they will see that it is a practical joke.
In the meantime you are sent an e-mail telling you that someone has been taken in by you. This e-mail has a link to your special "Who's been fooled?" page, which lists all the results filled in via your link. How can CrushCheck.com be free?
CrushCheck.com has not used the services of web designers or software businesses, which makes a huge difference. The monthly costs are covered by advertising revenue. The site was originally set up as a free service and will therefore never have to be paid for.
What will happen to my personal particulars?
Very few personal particulars have to be filled in on CrushCheck.com; only your name and e-mail address. These will never be sold or passed on to third parties - with one exception. As soon as someone clicks on a personal link to calculate his/her compatibility score and fills in the fields, your name and e-mail address will be given on the "You've been fooled" page. We have done this so that the victim is not kept completely in the dark.
